My partner chose the Hideaway for a surprise trip and as the setting in which he would propose to me. I was absolutely over the moon and couldn't have picked a more perfect location. We found the staff very helpful and friendly, and the accommodation and facilities excellent, and especially enjoyed the breakfast kindly delivered to us the next morning. I will definitely recommend The Cranleigh to friends and family.

Thank you for making our stay a very special one.

Think of it like being given the keys to your rich uncle's apartment for the weekend and being blown away by the array of cool high-tech gadgets to play with and a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room fighting between themselves to be the fanciest room in the house.

They really have thought of absolutely everything. "Wow" doesn't really sum this up. If you are looking for somewhere truly magical to stay, with service second to none, then I would highly recommend The Hideout. It only comes with one problem… you have to leave and go home.

The team at the Cranleigh is passionate about providing a Lake District stay that's unforgettable for all the right reasons. Of course, the best people to comment on the quality of the Cranleigh's service are the guests who have stayed in the past, so here is a small selection of comments that have been received by email, through TripAdvisor, or by traditional pen and paper.

Good Afternoon Emma I just wanted to take time to thank you and all your staff for a wonderful stay at the Cranleigh.

I booked this for my partner Dave 40th birthday as a surprise. From the moment we arrived the staff were all so helpful and friendly. The room was stunning, the breakfast was lovely, and a big thank you for the romantic turn down, that was the perfect final touch.

We will be recommending the hotel to all our family and friends. And hope to be back soon.

I really don't know where to start with this review but it's certainly going to be worth a read. My partner booked this hotel for me as a suprise anniversary getaway...

Great place, nothing too much trouble for friendly staff and standard of accommodation superb. Food great, great location and will be back.

After having The Cranleigh recommended via TravelZoo we took advantage of a special offer which was B&B plus a Romantic Turn Down package. This meant that after a very satisfying meal in one of the nearby restaurants we came back to our luxury suite to chocolates, rose petals on the bed and champagne. Fab!!!

My husband and I have just returned from our three day break at the Cranleigh. We stayed in the "Hideaway" and were truly blown away by the high standard of our suite. The spa bath was a real treat, and the breakfast delivered to our room every morning was wonderful. My husband and I would recommend the Hideaway for a perfect special occasion.

From arrival to departure, this hotel and its staff offered everything we could have asked for. Our suite, No 10, was finished with luxurious fabrics and quality furniture. The separate/dedicated entrance was accessed through a terrace and garden area, which would be a plus in the summer months. The staff then called a few weeks later to follow up on our stay - excellent service from an exceptional hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay. Service has been impeccable. The room was spotless and our bed felt like sleeping in a fluffy cloud. Nice fluffy towels too.

Genuinely everyone we have come into contact with at the Cranleigh has been marvellous. This hotel is clearly run/owned by people who care about the customer experience.

You all made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble, we would certainly have to go a long way to ever come up to that standard at any other hotel. All the staff were so friendly and the lovely daffs you all kindly bought Fay and I were such a nice touch. The weather's terrible here today, rain, rain, rain so we're missing that log fire!!! We will be back next year and will certainly recommend The Cranleigh to all our friends. Hope you are all in good spirits and having some sunshine up there in The Lakes. Best wishes

myself and my husband stayed at the cranleigh for our second wedding anniversary and it was amazing :) from the second you walk into the door you feel calm and relaxed which was just what we needed, we stayed in a luxury room and it was so nice.

A one night stay in the Sanctuary wasn't enough to enjoy all this accommodation has to offer! Having stayed extensively throughout the lake district the Cranleigh offers excellent service, standards and accommodation which many struggle to compete with.

Myself and my husband stayed here for our minimoon after getting married in Scotland on 18 Feb. The hotel more than exceeded our expectations and we loved the different quirks like the mood lighting, the tv in the bath, the super king sized bed....that you dont get in your average hotel!

I stayed at the Cranleigh for the first time in February for 3 days. I cannot fault the hotel one bit! Everything was perfect. Perfect for a romantic get away. The hotel and area so quiet, yet there was so much to do, lots of places to eat out. Everyone is so friendly, and charming. The overall experinces is fantastic.

I stumbled across the Cranleigh whilst looking for a break in the Lake District and am thrilled. What an amazing place - beautifully decorated and appointed throughout, superb location (much better being in Bowness than Windermere) just minutes from the lake, shops, restaurants.

Howard & Sam Wing (Blackpool)

We had a lovely stay at The Cranleigh. The room was out of this world, especially the bathroom with the jet bath and the TV. The staff were very friendly and the full English was superb. It was only 2 minutes' walk from the town amenities, yet quiet and tranquil. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing for a peaceful, luxurious, yet reasonable break. Thank you.
