Where to go for Bonfire Night in the Lake District

Often overshadowed by Halloween and Christmas, Bonfire Night is undoubtedly one of the best and most under-rated celebrations in the British calendar. What’s not to love? You can wrap up in your matching fluffy hat, scarf and gloves without anyone batting an eyelid, while enjoying some delicious alcoholic beverage (preferably mulled wine) and snack on BBQ food and toffee apples. And of course, this is all while you admire the warming bonfire and (hopefully!) an impressive fireworks display. Bonfire Night is almost guaranteed to be a jolly and social occasion in the Lake District.

Although its beginnings have a slightly morbid nature (you know, the whole Guy Fawkes trying to blow up parliament, then his failure resulting in a celebration mimicking his body burning on the bonfire part), it has turned into a delightful annual tradition that makes winter feel like so much more than a season associated with hibernation and horrendous weather. Want to know where to go for Bonfire Night in The Lake District? Take inspiration from the list below.
