Try Grasmere Gingerbread

Sarah Nelson invented Grasmere gingerbread in 1854, and it’s unlike any other gingerbread you’ve ever had. It’s gooey in the middle and crumbly on top, like a sweet-spicy hybrid between a cake and a biscuit. People come from all over the world to partake in this activity.

Simply drive, or take a bus to Grasmere and find Sarah’s cottage tucked between St Oswald’s Churchyard and the Wordsworth Hotel.

If you get hungry once you’re back home, you can even order it online!

The park boasts an array of walking trails, bikes for hire, and even a high ropes course, making it ideal for thrill-seekers and lovers of all things outdoors. It’s the ideal setting for people of all abilities, and families are welcome.
