Romantic Beauty Spots around the Lake District

No matter what time of year you visit, there is no doubt that you and your loved one can still enjoy a romantic getaway for two in the Lake District. We enjoy seeing so many couples come through our doors at the Lake District’s adult-only hotel Bowness on Windermere, so passionately in love and looking for the perfect place to share their love with us while staying with us.

So below we’ve listed the best places to experience the best romantic beauty spots in the Lake District.

  1. Bowness Bay

Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3HJ

Located just a few minute’s walks from our Boutique Church Suites and our Boutique Hotel. It’s the perfect place to sit back, relax and watch the world go by; or go for a glorious walk around Lake Windermere’s shoreline. The lake is also a great spot for a romantic boat trip if you’re feeling adventurous. Feel that you are the only two people left in the world by hiring your own boat, or find a ticket for local Windermere Lake Cruises and take in the wonder that makes the Lake District so irresistible to many.

2. Claife Viewing Station

Windermere West Shore, Near Sawrey, Hawkshead LA22 0LW

Is there anything more romantic than going for a walk in Lake District woodlands and stumbling upon a historic 18th-century viewing station, built purposely to enjoy the stunning scenery of Lake Windermere? Claife Viewing Station is an 18th-century tourist attraction with stained glass panels that were added to recreate lighting effects in the landscape. There’s also a local cafe, and ferry landing – so if you’re planning on taking one of the Windermere Lake Cruise trips from Bowness, add this to your itinerary.

3. Cockshot Point

Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, WINDERMERE, Cumbria, LA23 3GZ

Looking for a romantic & pleasant stroll away from the crowds? Cockshot point is the place to be, with views of the largest and only inhabited island on Windermere, Belle Island. It boasts the perfect spots for a romantic picnic or a paddle in the lake, and at the far end, you can watch the car ferry make its trips back and forth to Far Sawrey – or take the ferry yourself across the lake (near Dan’s Shack) where you can visit the National Trust’s Claife Heights viewing station and cafe as mentioned above.

4. Lake View Garden Bar

St Andrews, Lake Rd, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere LA23 3DE

If you’re looking for a place to unwind over a cocktail or two with your loved one after a busy day exploring the Lake District, there’s no place more scenic or romantic than Lake View Garden Bar. One of the most romantic beauty spots around the lake district, boasting panoramic views of Lake Windermere across two terraces, it’s the perfect spot to watch the sun go down; with stunning sunsets and magnificent views all year round. In addition, you get 10% off food and drink with our guest app when you stay at Cranleigh Boutique.

5. Bowness on Windermere Jetty

Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3HJ

Similar to Bowness bay, this snug area of Bowness on Windermere has a small Jetty is a great place to enjoy the Lake Windermere scenery. This romantic spot is located in a slightly more peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness, with stunning views of Lake Windermere & the Langdales. Grab yourself an ice cream, sit back on one of the benches, and relax as watch the world go by.
